Hi all,
There is some more information in the link below.
We would like to supply as much information about the recall as possible, so if anybody has any questions please don't hesitate to write to me or ask questions on this thread.
The fault in it's simplest terms is a raw material fault.
There is nothing wrong with our design, nothing wrong with our production and nothing wrong with our inspections.
The cracks appear about 1 month after manufacture, by then, that cams have been sent to the retailers.
We have the ceritficates from the aluminium manufacturer to say they have passed their inspection. The size 6 boss has been machined out of extrusion from a different factory to the other sizes.
So where does this leave DMM?
We are looking into purchasing our own ultrasound testing equipment. So when the extrusion has come pre-tested from our supplier, we can do a more stringent test on every consignment we receive.
Not all size 6's have the problem, it appears to be a case of rear end drag when the extrusion is produced.
So, out of 600 size 6's sold, 300 may have the cracks forming. We are recalling all of them. When we send them back out again. All 6's will have been checked and the new extrusion tested.
http://www.dmmclimbing.com/uploads/docu ... ragon6.pdfI hope this goes some of the way to explain the current situation.
Please pass this information on, as we would like to notify as many people as possible about the recall.
Thank you all.
I look forward to receiving any queries from concerned climbers.
Ben
